itel S25 Ultra: They Aren’t Trying to Hide It Anymore

Festive banner featuring the itel S25 Ultra smartphone prominently in the foreground, showcasing its design and triple-camera setup. Two partially visible Galaxy S25 Ultra devices are positioned in the background. The text 'itel S25 Ultra' is displayed in bold black letters, accompanied by holiday decorations, including a Santa hat on the itel logo, ornaments, a reindeer, a snowman, and a playful elf peeking around the devices, adding a Christmas vibe.

itel is at it again, and this time, they’re not even trying to hide it. Introducing the itel S25 Ultra, a phone that literally screams “Hey, we know where we got this from,” the only difference being they’re not asking you to break the bank to enjoy it, understandable. So with a name that could easily be Samsung’s next S-series flagship, the S25 Ultra might leave you thinking if imitation truly is the sincerest form of flattery.

Let’s start by addressing the obvious: itel has fully embraced its identity as the unabashed copycat of the smartphone world, and honestly, I can’t even be mad about it anymore. I mean, the specs aren’t bad for the price, but this whole borrowing thing isn’t something new for them.

itel’s Design “Inspiration”

Now, let’s start with the design. Itel doesn’t just borrow design cues, they run a whole “buy one, get five” sale on other brands’ ideas, I’m not being rude but we’ve seen this multiple times. As I previously said about the itel P65, they didn’t just take one or two cues:

they went on a full shopping spree and stuffed their cart with all the popular guys have to offer.

One thing I can downright praise is the S25 Ultra’s curved AMOLED display and under-display fingerprint sensor which are straight out of the premium playbook and hard to achieve at this price point.

Performance

Now, let’s talk about that UNISOC T620 processor, I have an ugly history with these. I’ve had my beef with UNISOC chips in past itel devices, like the itel S23 and P40 Plus, where I noted the “enthusiastic” performance of their processors.

Need a translation for that?

They often sound better than they perform. Without actually testing the S25 Ultra firsthand, I can’t confirm whether this chipset will shine or fizzle out like its predecessors so I won’t be a hater without any physical evidence. But if history is any indicator, slightly demanding games and multitasking might not be this phone’s strong suit.

For example, in my review of the P40 Plus, I noted how:

the Unisoc T606 is simply too weak to handle these(FC Mobile and PUBG Mobile) games, even on the lowest settings.

While the T620 is technically an upgrade, I wouldn’t expect miracles here.

Cameras

The 50MP main camera sounds promising, as does the 32MP selfie one, but again, we’ve heard this story before. On previous models like the S24, the camera hardware delivered decent results, but it was clear that “it won’t compete with the Pixel 7a or the Nothing Phone 2a.”, I also noted that those phones are 3x the S24’s price though. So if you’re looking for budget-friendly cameras that can handle everyday shots, this should suffice but don’t expect DSLR-level quality which is quite obvious to be fair.

Battery Life and Software

If there’s one area itel consistently delivers, it’s battery life, this one needs no introduction. The 5000mAh battery paired with 18W charging should easily get you through a day or more of moderate use. However, I wish they’d pushed for faster charging speeds in 2024, it’s starting to feel dated at this point, but slower charging means better battery life so that’s nice of them to do that.

As for the software, itel OS 14.5 (based on Android 14) will come with its fair share of pre-installed apps, gimmicky features and a whole load of bloatware. While I’ve previously highlighted itel’s AI assistant as

eager to help but not quite measuring up to Google Assistant

t’s these quirky extras that sometimes add charm to their phones.

Conclusion

Finally here’s the thing, I’m not in a position to judge the S25 Ultra’s actual performance or value for money since I don’t actually have the device in hand. But based on these specs and my previous experiences with itel devices, the phone seems like a solid budget option for casual users.

However, the same issues that plagued their older models might still linger here:

borrowed design, mediocre processors, and hit-or-miss execution.

But for PHP 7,999 ($140 USD / £115 GBP), it’s a tempting deal and I don’t think anyone would even care about that. Although at the higher price of PHP 10,999 ($195 USD / £160 GBP), you might find better alternatives in brands like Xiaomi or Infinix.

Vivo Exclusive Features You Probably Won’t Pay Attention To

Festive banner featuring a Vivo x100 Ultra with a Santa hat on its camera module. The text 'VIVO EXCLUSIVES' is displayed in bold white letters on a green background with a Christmas ornament labeled 'Tino Talks Tech.' Decorative reindeer and a Santa figure add a cheerful holiday touch.

Vivo has earned its place as a frontrunner in the smartphone market which is something I only discovered now while working on this article series. So my guess is that they earned this position by consistently delivering thoughtful innovations, like every other Chinese company out there, so rather than relying on flashy gimmicks, they focus on features that genuinely enhance user experience, and again, this is not a Vivo thing, that’s just how Chinese phones are made in my opinion. Now here’s what makes Vivo stand out!

1. OriginOS

Vivo’s OriginOS reimagines the Android experience with a sleek, functional design which most people call a wannabe iOS, not my words though. There isn’t much to say about this since it’s just an Android skin that has it’s own quirks, just like the rest. However, what I can comment on is the layout for widgets which ensures an organized home screen, and also features like Nano Alerts that deliver notifications in a subtle, non-intrusive way. So from Vivo’s perspective, OriginOS is all about making Android simpler, cleaner, and more intuitive, but I believe Android is already good just the way it is.

2. ZEISS Camera Collaboration

Now to the exciting ones, let’s start with the partnership between Vivo and ZEISS. By integrating ZEISS optical technology, Vivo offers cameras that capture photos with great clarity and precision, and they are packed with features like portrait effects and advanced lens quality to elevate your photos to what we’d call kinda-professional standards, hence making every image a potential masterpiece.

3. V1+ Imaging Chip

The V1+ Imaging Chip is Vivo’s proprietary contribution to better image processing, and yes, almost all smartphones have something of their own that does this, but hear me out first. So this is designed to enhance low-light photography and the chip works behind the scenes to reduce any noise and improve clarity in photos and videos. It’s mostly effective in dim conditions, ensuring your nighttime shots look vibrant and natural, whereas my nighttime images look like something that was taken at night, literally.

4. Gimbal Stabilization

Believe it or not, Vivo’s got some Gimbal Stabilization technology that mimics the effect of a physical gimbal, reducing motion blur and delivering steady footage. This works differently to the stabilisation technologies other phones use, I don’t know how but it’s just the special one on the block.

5. Dual-LED Flash with Aura Light

We all know that portrait photography can be tricky in low light(especially for people like me who rely on their phones to adjust every setting), now Vivo addresses this with its “Dual-LED Flash” and “Aura Light”. So this feature creates a soft, diffused light that enhances skin tones and eliminates harsh shadows.

6. Ultra Large VC Bionic Cooling System

We all know that high-performance smartphones often run the risk of overheating. In fact, I saw this ad by Xiaomi where they created chocolate bridges and put two phones on top of them running Genshin Impact, we won’t get deep into that though. Back to the main point now, Vivo addresses this with its Ultra Large VC Bionic Cooling System. Which is an advanced cooling mechanism that efficiently dissipates heat, ensuring the phone remains cool even during demanding tasks like gaming or video editing. So it’s just a really cool feature that keeps performance smooth and uninterrupted, no matter how hard you push the device.

Conclusion

Now there isn’t much I could include about Vivos, they are really solid devices but they lack the “WOW” factor most smartphones have, and yes, they do have their own things going on, but they’re just not enough to woo me, so sorry Vivo, maybe next time. Anyway, this is the fourth post in our series on exclusive smartphone features, and there’s still more to explore so stay tuned.

Mi-nd Blowing Features: Xiaomi Exclusives

Xiaomi has long been known for offering feature-packed smartphones at competitive prices, but what really sets them apart are their exclusive innovations. And yes, smartphone innovation is still a thing, they’re just out of ideas, you know who they are. Meanwhile, Xiaomi continuously pushes the envelope, let’s look at what sets them apart.

1. HyperOS (formerly MIUI)

Xiaomi’s HyperOS is the company’s proprietary skin on top of Android. It’s not really something they invented from scratch, but it counts since it’s more than just a skin. It offers unique customizations, smoother animations, and features specifically optimized for Xiaomi devices. HyperOS 2.0 brings improvements like a redesigned settings menu, smoother performance, and enhanced multitasking.

2. 120W Wired & 50W Wireless HyperCharge

Xiaomi’s HyperCharge technology is one of the fastest charging solutions on the market. One key thing to note is that this feature is not available on all Xiaomi devices, but hey, we’re talking about flagships here. The 120W wired charging can fully charge a device in under 20 minutes, while the 50W wireless charging is rare even among premium devices, providing a quick and convenient way to power up your phone.

3. Leica Co-Engineered Camera System

Xiaomi has partnered with Leica to deliver professional-grade cameras, offering superior image quality with features like Summilux lenses, AI-enhanced night photography, and advanced HDR processing. The collaboration brings DSLR-like performance to smartphones.

4. Humanistic Night Photography

Exclusive to Xiaomi’s flagship devices, this feature enhances night photography by focusing on capturing true-to-life colors and emotions, even in low-light conditions. It’s handy for users looking to take atmospheric and richly detailed nighttime photos.

Xiaomi’s Game Turbo is designed to enhance gaming performance. It improves touch sensitivity, boosts frame rates, and optimizes the GPU for smoother gameplay. In HyperOS 2.0, the redesigned Game Turbo includes more features and better integration with Xiaomi’s AI engine. And don’t say it’s just another game booster app, it isn’t!!!

7. Theft Detection Lock

This feature automatically locks the device if it detects that it has been forcibly taken from the user’s hand. This AI-driven protection is part of Xiaomi’s focus on security, ensuring that unauthorized access is blocked until the correct user credentials are provided.

8. Dual-SIM 5G Support

Xiaomi phones offer Dual-SIM 5G support, allowing users to use two active 5G SIM cards simultaneously. This is particularly beneficial for people who need separate work and personal numbers or for frequent travellers who use local SIMs.

9. AI Face Unlock & Fingerprint Security

Xiaomi devices often include AI-enhanced Face Unlock, which uses advanced algorithms to ensure fast yet secure unlocking. This works alongside under-display fingerprint sensors, providing dual biometric security that is reliable and fast, oh and there’s that one Xiaomi with an extra large ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, there’s some impressive tech right there😀.

10. Multi-Link Connectivity

Xiaomi devices offer Multi-Link functionality, allowing users to connect to Wi-Fi and mobile data simultaneously for better connectivity and seamless switching between networks. This feature is great for users who need uninterrupted internet, particularly in areas with fluctuating signal strength.

These features demonstrate how Xiaomi is leveraging AI, fast charging, and camera innovations to enhance the user experience and these elements make their smartphones some of the most versatile and feature-rich in the market. So who do you think is next in line? Who knows, we’ll only have to wait and see, so stay tuned for the next part of this article series.

Samsung Exclusive Features: What Sets Galaxy Devices Apart

We all know that each smartphone brand brings something unique to the table. So because of this, I’m starting this article series about the top smartphone manufacturers and the exclusive and unique features on their phones only,or maybe their flagships only. We’re using a list provided by ChatGPT, which ranked the smartphones on its own to have zero bias.

First up is Samsung, one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers out there. Samsung has been a trailblazer in the smartphone industry, offering innovative features that set its devices apart. Now, without further ado, let’s look at some of the exclusive features that make Samsung smartphones stand out.

1. Edge Panels

Samsung’s Edge Panels are one of the most iconic features. They allow users to access apps, tools, contacts, and even widgets from a customizable side panel that slides out from the edge of the screen. The edge panels are designed for quick multitasking, and you can add shortcuts for pretty much anything, your most-used apps, weather updates, or even a clipboard history. Instead of navigating multiple menus, they make it easy to keep your go-to tools at your fingertips, perfect for power users who need instant access to everything.

Here’s a good scenario, imagine you’re in the middle of watching a YouTube video, but you quickly need to check your email or calculator, because, well I don’t really know why you’d need to do that, but instead of exiting the app, a simple swipe from the side gives you access to everything you need.

2. Samsung DeX

Samsung DeX is another exclusive game-changer for Galaxy users, and it’s underrated in my opinion. DeX allows you to turn your smartphone into a desktop like experience by connecting it to a monitor/TV or even using it wirelessly. Once connected, your phone operates like a PC, with a desktop interface, multiple resizable windows, and full keyboard and mouse support. You can run productivity apps like Microsoft Office or even browse the web as you would on a laptop. DeX is perfect for those who want to reduce their device load, why carry around a laptop and a phone when your Galaxy device can be both? Oh and you can even connect wireless peripherals to your phone to get the full desktop experience, I guess you can do the same with wired ones but you’d need an adapter for that.

I’ve personally used DeX, testing it, and it’s surprising how productive you can be by just connecting your phone to a TV or monitor. It’s a unique feature that adds real value if you’re someone who needs to be productive on the go, or if you’re someone like me who gets impressed by anything like this.

3. S Pen Support

One of the most loved features for those who use Galaxy Note or the Galaxy S Ultra series is S Pen support. Samsung’s stylus is not just for doodling; it offers precision and functionality that make it a powerful productivity tool. From jotting down quick notes on your screen to precise editing in design apps, the S Pen feels smooth and intuitive. It’s great for artists, students, or professionals who prefer handwritten notes or need to annotate documents on the go.

The Air Actions feature, which lets you control the phone using gestures in the air, is another cool aspect. For example, you can snap photos(which I guess others think it’s a great idea to have a button for), control presentations, or even navigate apps without touching the screen. The S Pen is a whole new way of interacting with your device.

4. Bixby

While voice assistants like Google Assistant and Siri are widely used, Bixby is Samsung’s homegrown AI assistant, designed specifically for Galaxy devices. Bixby goes beyond simple voice commands and offers a more integrated experience with Samsung’s ecosystem. It helps you manage smart devices via SmartThings, automate tasks with Bixby Routines, and even control your phone hands-free.

For example, you can say, “Bixby, start my morning routine,” and it’ll turn on the lights, read your schedule, and play your favorite playlist. Sure, Google Assistant might do something similar with way better execution, but Bixby shines in how deeply it integrates with the Galaxy device itself and the Samsung ecosystem. So while Google Assistant and Siri are relatively better, Bixby is still unique in it’s own way.

5. Secure Folder

If privacy and security are at the top of your priorities, Samsung’s Secure Folder is a must have. This feature creates a private, encrypted space on your phone where you can store sensitive apps, files, and documents. Everything inside the Secure Folder is separated from the rest of the phone, requiring an additional layer of authentication, whether it’s a password, fingerprint, or face recognition.

This feature is perfect for people who need to keep work and personal data separate or want an extra level of security for confidential files. It’s like having a hidden vault on your device that only you can access. This “Secure folder” won’t be samsung exclusive for long though, as Android 15 is bringing a similar one called Private Space.

6. SmartThings Integration

Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem allows you to control all your smart home devices directly from your Galaxy phone. Whether it’s adjusting the thermostat, checking security cameras, or turning off lights, SmartThings acts as a universal remote for your connected home. The deep integration with Galaxy devices makes it super easy to manage your entire smart ecosystem from a single app, which is a big win for smart home enthusiasts.

7. Single Take Camera Mode

For the photographers out there, Samsung’s Single Take camera mode is an exclusive feature that adds a fun, dynamic layer to the camera experience. With one press of the shutter button, Single Take captures a variety of formats, photos, videos, GIFs, and even short clips, from different camera angles and effects. It’s perfect for those moments when you’re not sure what’s going to look best, giving you a whole bunch of options without having to retake multiple shots.

It’s like being your own little photographer and director at the same time! Whether it’s for capturing a birthday party, your dog running around, or a sunset, you get everything from slow motion to wide-angle shots with just one tap.

8. Knox Security

Samsung Knox is an enterprise-grade security platform that offers multiple layers of protection for your Galaxy device. So whether you’re a casual user or a business professional, Knox provides strong encryption, malware protection, and real-time monitoring. It’s built directly into the hardware and software of the device, making it one of the most secure options available on the consumer market.

9. AR Zone

Samsung’s AR Zone adds augmented reality (AR) features like AR Doodle, AR Emoji, and AR Stickers to Galaxy devices. You can doodle on your surroundings using the camera, create your own emojis, and have fun with animated stickers that react to your facial expressions. It’s a creative, interactive way to play with AR, adding a fun touch to everyday phone use.

10. Director’s View

If you’re a content creator or love making videos, Director’s View is an awesome feature on Galaxy devices. This allows you to switch between different camera lenses in real-time while recording video, like having a multi-camera setup in your hand. You can capture both wide and zoom shots simultaneously, giving you more creative control without needing to edit in post-production.

Conclusion

These exclusive features make Samsung Galaxy devices a must-have for users who value innovation and an enhanced mobile experience. Stay tuned for my next article, where we’ll explore the exclusive features of the second most popular smartphone manufacturer, and remember, it’s the second most popular according to ChatGPT,not me so don’t come after my head because of these rankings, I’m just saying. Anyways, you won’t want to miss it!

AI OpenAI Review Software

This GPT has a PhD: Hear Me Out!

AI just got smarter, and I mean really smart. OpenAI’s new o1 series, which was released in September 2024, brings a new level of reasoning to the table. This model was designed to slow down and think before it responds, making it a first-of-its-kind model when it comes to handling tough problems in fields like math, coding, and science. It’s even being compared to a PhD student because it can tackle incredibly complex tasks with ease. But, unless you’re subscribed to ChatGPT Plus or Team, you won’t be able to experience this impressive jump in AI tech just yet.

So, what makes this model special? I’ll tell you a little story. After hearing all the hype about the model’s reasoning capabilities, I decided to test it out myself. I asked a simple question: “How many R’s are in ‘Strawberry’?” I had done this with other models before, but they often tripped up on such simple tasks. However, o1 nailed it on the first try, 3 R’s—without hesitation. This was the first AI model I’ve used that got it right the first time. That’s when I knew OpenAI wasn’t kidding about the o1’s problem-solving skills, oh and it does more than just find the number of R’s in strawberry lol.

It’s Smarter

The key feature that sets o1 apart from earlier models like GPT-4o is its ability to think longer before responding. Unlike GPT-4o, which prioritizes fluency and speed, o1 has been trained to slow down and evaluate problems carefully. This approach is essential for complex tasks that require deep reasoning, such as solving high-level math equations, debugging code, or even understanding advanced chemistry problems. OpenAI claims this model’s problem-solving abilities mirror those of PhD students, especially in disciplines like physics and biology, so yeah, I think you see where the title is coming from.

For example, in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) qualifying exams, GPT-4o managed to solve only 13% of the problems. In contrast, the o1 model correctly answered an impressive 83% of the same problems. Which is way more than my best marks in school, probably. So this speaks volumes about its performance in challenging technical tasks.

However, there’s a bit of a trade-off. The model takes longer to generate responses because it’s reasoning through the task. This won’t be a problem if you’re tackling complex challenges, but if you need something quick and less precise, GPT-4o might still be your go to.

Real-World Use Cases

The OpenAI o1 series shines in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields. If you’re a developer, data scientist, or engineer, you’ll love its ability to reason through intricate problems. OpenAI reported that o1 reached the 89th percentile in coding contests on Codeforces, a competitive programming platform. Imagine the possibilities if you’re stuck on a difficult algorithm or need to debug a large chunk of code, o1 can help you sort through it with its powerful reasoning capabilities.

Beyond coding, its performance in chemistry and biology means it could assist researchers in analyzing complex datasets or even devising new experiment strategies. It’s designed to be a partner for those in technical roles who need more than just casual conversations or superficial responses from their AI.

That said, it’s worth mentioning that GPT-4o might still have the edge when it comes to creative writing or more general tasks. The o1 model sacrifices some writing fluidity in favour of technical proficiency. So, depending on what you need, one model may be more suited to you than the other. This also implies that this model wasn’t made for everyone, unlike GPT 4o.

itel Eww, What’s That? My itel P65 Review

You know that feeling when you look at a new device, and you just don’t know how to feel about it? That’s exactly where I stand with the itel P65. When it comes to design, I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. There’s a lot going on with this phone, some of it is clever, a lot of it feels a bit… borrowed. Let’s break this down.

Design: Borrowed or Inspired?

First off, can we talk about how much this phone “borrows” from other manufacturers? Now, don’t get me wrong, everyone does it, remember Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 3 that look suspiciously like AirPods Pros). But itel? They didn’t just take one or two cues, they went on a full shopping spree and stuffed their cart with all the popular guys have to offer.

The design itself isn’t ugly. It has this sleek, futuristic vibe with a slight Nothing Phone flair. Imagine if Nothing had a budget smartphone with a metallic, semi-industrial look, that’s what the itel P65 brings to the table. It’s almost like they wanted to create a “metallic Nothing Phone,” if that was even a thing.

But it doesn’t stop there. They threw in what they call a “Dynamic Light Show”, which is essentially an LED under the flashlight that pulses with notifications and when you charge the phone. Does this sound familiar? Yeah, glyph lights… Now, a lot of Chinese manufacturers are doing this whole Dynamic Island knock-off trend, and itel couldn’t resist jumping in, although they have also done it with previous models as well, it’s still something they “borrowed”. I’m all for adapting to current trends, but it feels like they’ve put on too many “inspired” features without truly nailing any one of them.

And wait… there’s more! They’ve also added a third button they’re calling the “Flex Button.” Now, we’ve seen something like this before on other “phones”, where it’s a customizable button for quick access to apps or shortcuts. Again, a solid idea from… if it wasn’t for the fact that it feels more like an attempt to stuff every popular feature into one device. The execution? Well, let’s just say it leaves a little to be desired.

The Specs

Despite all the flashy add-ons, the P65 is still a budget phone, and the specs reflect that. Here’s what we’re working with:

  • Network Technology: GSM / HSPA / LTE
  • Dimensions: 165.9 x 77.3 x 7.9 mm, weighing 192.4g
  • Display: 6.7-inch IPS LCD, 120Hz refresh rate, 720 x 1600 pixels (~262 PPI)
  • Operating System: Android 14, itel OS 14
  • Chipset: Unisoc T615 (12nm)
  • CPU: Octa-core (2×1.8 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.6 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • Memory Options: 128GB with 4GB/8GB RAM or 256GB with 6GB RAM
  • Camera: 50 MP main camera, 8 MP selfie camera
  • Battery: 5000 mAh, 18W wired charging (40% in 30 mins)
  • Extras: LED notification ring, “Dynamic Bar” light show, Flex Button, USB-C, 3.5mm jack, NFC (on the 256GB/6GB model)
  • Price: Roughly $120–$130 USD depending on the configuration

The Processor: Unisoc T615

This is where the conversation gets serious. Powered by the Unisoc T615, a chipset we typically see in budget devices(like this one), this phone’s performance is decent but not groundbreaking which is not something to sulk about since it’s a budget smartphone. With an octa-core configuration, it handles everyday tasks like browsing and social media without much fuss or at least they say it does. But if you’re looking to push it with more demanding apps, it might struggle. Any moderate gaming or multitasking across power-hungry applications? Yeah, that’s not happening smoothly on this chipset.

The Unisoc T615 isn’t a terrible processor, it’s efficient and gets the job done for basic needs. But in 2024, when even budget phones are starting to push boundaries with performance, it feels like itel isn’t quite keeping up with the curve. And for a company trying to wow us with flashy design features, they could have done better in the performance department.

Conclusion

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Wow, you really don’t like itel.” I’ve written about their phones several times before, and while many of those articles have leaned negative, it’s because I’ve been mostly disappointed with them. Here are a few of them:

The truth is, I don’t hate the company. I don’t expect a $130 phone to blow me away,no one does, but when a company starts borrowing design ideas from everywhere and tries to cover up lackluster performance with gimmicks, it leaves a bad taste. Itel is in a unique position to dominate the budget phone market, but they seem more focused on being flashy than providing genuine innovation or substantial upgrades.

It’s frustrating because I know they can do better. Their devices have potential, but they often fall short by trying to do too much without focusing on what truly matters: performance, user experience, and meaningful features.

The CMF Watch Pro 2: The Best Budget Smartwatch?

It’s high time we talked about this watch, in my previous article I just went on and on about the phone, but here we are. You’ve probably heard about the CMF Watch Pro 2, a new contender in the smartwatch arena that’s been making waves, and if you know Nothing that well, you’d know that the watch really made a lot of waves. Now, first things first. I don’t actually have the device in my hands. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look at what makes this smartwatch an intriguing option. Based on research and the specs available, here’s my take on the CMF Watch Pro 2.

Key Selling Points

Let’s start with what makes the CMF Watch 2 Pro stand out. First, the design is a real eye-catcher. It comes with interchangeable bezels, which adds a lot of customization potential to the mix. Whether you want a Dark Grey Curved Bezel or an Ash Grey Flat Bezel, this watch has got you covered. Plus, you can swap out the straps, too, with options ranging from liquid silicone to leather, depending on your style.

Now, if you’re thinking this bezel swapping thing is revolutionary, well. Xiaomi already did this with their S3 watch. That said, Nothing never claimed to be the first or the only one with this feature, it’s just another cool option for those who love a bit of flair in their wearable tech. But it’s worth noting so you don’t get caught up in the hype of this being something entirely new to the smartwatch scene.

The Display & UI

On the display front, the CMF Watch Pro 2 sports a 1.32’’ AMOLED Display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels at 353 PPI. With 620 nits peak brightness and a smooth 60 fps refresh rate, it generally offers sharp, vibrant colours whether you’re checking notifications or tracking your fitness. Plus, the auto-brightness feature ensures you won’t be squinting at your wrist in broad daylight.

But let’s talk about the user interface. The CMF Watch runs on a proprietary OS(just like the previous gen), which is a bit of a bummer if you’re hoping for the flexibility of something like Wear OS. However, at the price point this watch is targeting, it’s a trade-off that makes sense. You get a streamlined experience, with over 100+ signature watch faces, including dynamic and interactive options, and an array of smart features that should meet most users’ needs.

Fitness & Health Tracking

For the fitness buffs out there, the CMF Watch Two Pro comes equipped with a Smart Movement Algorithm and supports 120 sports modes with 5 smart recognition activities. You can set training goals, monitor your heart rate, and even track your menstrual cycle. The Active Score feature and 24-hour heart rate/SpO₂ monitoring are also on board, making it a solid companion for keeping tabs on your health.

One standout feature is the battery life. With a 305 mAh battery, the watch claims to offer 11 days of typical use and up to 45.8 days in power-saving mode. That’s impressive, especially for those who don’t want to be tethered to a charger every night.

Final Thoughts

As for pricing, the CMF Watch Pro 2 is positioned as a budget-friendly option in the smartwatch market for only £69 here in the UK, which makes its feature set even more appealing.

To wrap it up, while I can’t give you a hands-on verdict, the CMF Watch Pro 2 seems to be a solid contender in the budget smartwatch category. It’s got the looks, the features, and the price tag that could make it a popular choice for those not wanting to break the bank. And hey, if you’re into customizing your watch’s appearance, the bezel-swapping capability is just the cherry on top.

SoundID: The Audio App You Didn’t Know You Needed

We’ve seen countless ways to tweak and refine your listening experience, that’s not something new, and if you’re someone who values crisp, clear, and customized sound, you’re probably familiar with equalizers. You may even rely on the built-in EQ settings of your headphones or your phone’s built-in EQ, but there’s an app that takes sound personalisation to a whole new level: SoundID.

P.S: This isn’t a sponsored article; I’m just genuinely excited about this app because it has changed the way I listen to music. Let me tell you why SoundID is a game-changer.

What is SoundID?

SoundID is an app developed by Sonarworks, a company known for its professional-grade audio calibration software used in music studios worldwide. SoundID takes that professional expertise and puts it in the palm of your hand, offering a personalized audio experience tailored specifically to your hearing profile and preferences. The app works with a wide range of headphones, enhancing your audio experience regardless of the brand.

How Does SoundID Work?

SoundID uses cutting-edge tech(well so they say) to create a unique sound profile based on your hearing abilities and personal taste. Here’s how it works:

  1. Personalized Sound Profile: When you first set up SoundID, the app guides you through a series of listening tests. It plays various tones and asks you to choose the ones that sound best to you. This process helps the app understand your unique hearing capabilities.
  2. Sound Customization: Once the app has all this information, it creates a personalized sound profile that adapts the audio output to suit your preferences and hearing profile. You can further fine-tune the sound using the app’s intuitive interface, making adjustments until it’s perfect for your ears.
  3. Compatibility: One of the best features of SoundID is its compatibility. You can use it across a wide range of headphones.

Features That Set SoundID Apart

SoundID packs a punch with its impressive array of features that cater to both audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Here are some standout features:

1. Smart Presets

SoundID offers smart presets for various music genres and listening environments. Whether you’re listening to rock, jazz, or hip-hop, or if you’re in a quiet room or a noisy café, the app adjusts the sound to suit the situation perfectly.

2. A/B Testing

A unique feature of SoundID is its A/B testing capability. This allows you to compare the original sound with the personalized version in real time. It’s a fun way to truly hear the difference the app makes and refine your preferences further.

3. Intuitive Interface

The user interface is sleek and straightforward, making it easy for anyone to navigate. Whether you’re a tech-savvy audiophile or a casual listener, you’ll find the app user-friendly and easy to set up.

4. Regular Updates

SoundID is constantly updated with new features and improvements. The developers at Sonarworks listen to user feedback and continuously refine the app to offer the best possible audio experience.

Why SoundID Beats Built-in EQ

Now, let’s talk about why SoundID is a step above the built-in EQ settings. I have JBL headphones so they come with their own EQ within the app. Now don’t get me wrong, JBL makes fantastic headphones with solid EQ options. However, SoundID takes audio customization to another level with its focus on individual hearing profiles and preferences. Here are a few reasons why I prefer SoundID over JBL’s built-in EQ:

  1. Personalization: While JBL EQ settings offer a range of preset sound profiles, they are still generic. SoundID’s approach is entirely personal, creating a sound profile that’s as unique as your fingerprint.
  2. Flexibility: SoundID’s ability to work across different headphones means you’re not tied to a single brand. You can enjoy your personalized sound whether you’re using JBL, Sony, Bose, or any other headphones.
  3. Continuous Improvement: With regular updates and enhancements, SoundID stays ahead of the curve, adapting to new technologies and user feedback, whereas traditional EQ settings might remain static.

Final Thoughts

SoundID is a fantastic app for anyone who values high-quality audio. It offers an unprecedented level of customization and adaptability that enhances your listening experience far beyond what standard EQ settings can provide.

Remember, this is not a sponsored recommendation. I’m genuinely impressed with how much this app has elevated my audio experience, and I believe it can do the same for you.

So, why settle for average sound when you can have audio that’s uniquely yours? Download SoundID now!

CMF Phone 1: A Game Changer in Budget Smartphones

I’ve been talking about this phone non-stop for the past few days, and for good reason. The CMF Phone 1 is here, and it’s already making waves with its impressive specs and unbelievable pricing.

Stellar Specs

Performance

First off, the CMF Phone 1 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G processor. This 8-core beast, clocking up to 2.5 GHz, is built on the advanced 4nm TSMC process. What does this mean? In simple terms, it’s fast, efficient, and ready to handle whatever you throw at it on a day-to-day basis. Although it might not provide the best gaming experience on the market, we can safely say that it offers the best within it’s price point and topping that with Nothing’s low-lag game mode, this phone is great for gaming, only when you use graphical settings it supports.

Memory and Storage

You’re looking at 16 GB of RAM (8 GB + 8 GB RAM booster). Yes, you read that right. With this kind of memory, multitasking is kinda like a breeze, and your apps will run smoother than ever. Although there is a bit of a lag but we can’t blame the phone here, it’s already set to outperform it’s counterparts. For storage, the base model comes with 128 GB, but if you need more, there’s a 256 GB version as well. Both are priced incredibly well at £209 and £239 respectively. And if that’s not enough, you can expand the storage up to a whopping 2 TB via a microSD card. So, no more worrying about running out of space.

Stunning Display

The phone features a stunning 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This means everything from scrolling through social media to watching videos will feel buttery smooth. And with a peak brightness of 2000 nits, you’ll have no trouble using your phone even in bright sunlight, although it has been noted that this peak brightness can only be attained in ‘specific’ situations otherwise the most you can squeeze out is 1200 nits which is still pretty solid.

Camera Capabilities

For all you photography enthusiasts, the CMF Phone 1 sports a 50 MP Sony rear camera. And again, it’s not something you could expect to wow you every time you take a picture but it still takes decent shots. Whether it’s day or night, your photos will come out sharp and vibrant thanks to the Ultra XDR and AI Vivid Mode. On the front, there’s a 16 MP camera for selfies that’ll make you look your best.

Battery Life

Great battery life has been consistent with Nothing phones ever since the Phone 2 so you won’t get disappointed with this one as well. Worried about battery life? Don’t be. The CMF Phone 1 packs a 5000 mAh battery that promises more than 10 hours of screen on time, what more would you want?. So, binge-watch your favorite series without constantly hunting for a charger. Oh and the charging, yes the phone doesn’t have any fancy wireless charging capabilities just like the Phone 2a but it still comes with a decent wired charging speed of 33W.

Software and OS

Running on Nothing OS 2.6 powered by Android 14, the phone delivers a clean and user-friendly experience. It’s fast, intuitive, and packed with useful features. Plus, you get 2 years of major software updates and 3 years of security patch updates, which is quite reasonable at this price point.

Design and Accessories

Now, let’s talk design. The CMF Phone 1 is all about adaptability and this has been one of their biggest marketing points for the device. It comes with interchangeable back covers that cost just £29. You can switch up the look of your phone whenever you feel like it. There’s also a £19 lanyard, a £19 stand, and a £19 wallet that screws onto the phone. And get this – the cases and wallets are made from vegan leather, giving them a premium feel without the premium price tag.

IP Rating

One thing to note is the phone’s IPX2 rating. This means it has minimal water and dust resistance due to its form factor. So, while it’s fine for everyday use, don’t go dunking it in water.

Conclusion

Tech reviewer Mrwhosetheboss called the CMF Phone 1 a game changer. He mentioned that it reminds him of a term he learned in India called “jugaad.” Jugaad is a Hindi word that refers to a flexible approach to problem-solving that uses limited resources in an innovative way. It perfectly describes the CMF Phone 1 – a device that delivers top-tier specs and features at a fraction of the cost.

In conclusion, the CMF Phone 1 is setting a new standard for budget smartphones. With its powerful specs, stunning display, excellent cameras, and versatile design, it’s hard to believe it’s priced so affordably. If you’re in the market for a new phone, the CMF Phone 1 should be at the top of your list.

Itel S24: Name Sounds Familiar, Price Sounds Fantastic

Itel’s S series naming conventions are always a bit of a mystery. We jumped from the S17 to the S18, then last year it was the S23, and now we have the S24! It’s almost like a certain German car manufacturer which uses the same naming style in their ‘Luxury’ car series. But hey, who cares about names when the price is right? The S24 packs a surprising punch for a phone that costs between $105 and $150 USD.

Let’s dive into the specs! The S24 boasts a large 6.6-inch IPS LCD display, perfect for watching videos or endlessly scrolling through social media. It comes with a generous 8GB of RAM, which is a welcome surprise at this price point, allowing you to run multiple apps and switch between them smoothly. Storage options include either 128GB or 256GB, giving you plenty of space for your photos, videos, and ever-growing app collection. It’s no surprise that itel cut some corners to hit that sweet price point. The display resolution isn’t the highest, and the build is more plastic than glass. But the overall construction feels surprisingly sturdy for a budget phone. One cool feature is the color-changing back, reminiscent of the itel S23. And of course, there’s the ‘Dynamic Bar’ – a feature that definitely wasn’t inspired by a certain fruit-branded tech giant. Let’s just say the designers were clearly fans of the S24’s sleek design!

Under the hood, the S24 represents a major upgrade with the switch to a MediaTek Helio G91 processor. This is a significant improvement over the Unisoc chips used in previous models, which were known for their, ahem, ‘enthusiastic’ performance. I reviewed both the S23 and the P40+, and let’s just say gaming wasn’t exactly their strong suit. While the Helio G91 won’t turn the S24 into a gaming powerhouse, it’s a clear step up that makes everyday tasks smoother and allows for some light gaming And get this – the S24’s default wallpaper has a seriously familiar vibe. It’s got that swirly look and those nature-y colors that kinda remind you of staring at your desktop screen. Makes you wonder if someone at itel is a fan of a certain super popular operating system, you know?.

The 108MP camera on the S24 seems a bit too good to be true at first glance. Sure, it won’t compete with the Pixel 7a or the Nothing Phone 2a(my favorite midrange devices), but remember the price difference! Compared to its predecessors, the S24 should deliver noticeably better image quality, which is a win for budget-minded users.

Itel has a well-deserved reputation for excellent battery life, and the S24 doesn’t disappoint. The 5000mAh battery should easily get you through a full day of use, and potentially more if you’re not constantly glued to the screen. And if you’re a battery life champion, the itel P40+ might be your soulmate, boasting a whopping 7000mAh battery.

As with many Chinese smartphones, the itel S24 comes with its own custom software experience. There will be some pre-installed apps, some of which could be considered bloatware. Itel also has a fondness for including various ‘features’ that may not be quite as useful as they seem. However, itel’s custom Android skin, while not top-of-the-line, has a clean aesthetic. You might even run into their AI assistant, Aivana, who’s always eager to help (but might not quite measure up to Google Assistant, I’m just saying).

Overall Impressions (Without a Test Drive)

While I haven’t personally reviewed the S24 (this whole review is based on insights from other reviewers, so maybe I might have said too much for someone who doesn’t have first-hand information), it’s clear that you’re getting a lot of smartphone for a remarkably low price. The S24 strikes a great balance between features and affordability. If you’re not a power user who demands the latest and greatest technology, this could be the perfect daily driver. The big display, decent performance, surprisingly capable camera, and long-lasting battery should cover most people’s needs without breaking the bank.

When to Consider Alternatives

However, there are some scenarios where itel’s other offerings or even competing brands might be a better fit. If 5G connectivity or wireless charging is a must-have for you, the itel P55 lineup is worth considering. Additionally, if you prioritize camera performance above all else, the Google Pixel 7a or even the Nothing Phone 2a(yes, these two again) might offer a more satisfying experience, although be prepared to pay a bit more for those upgrades.

The Bottom Line

The itel S24 is a compelling option for anyone seeking a capable smartphone on a tight budget. It won’t blow your mind with high-level specs, but it delivers remarkable value. If you simply need a phone that handles everyday tasks smoothly, has a decent camera, and keeps going all day long, the S24 is well worth a closer look.

Here’s a table summarizing the key specs of the Itel S24:
